Last Sunday, my family and I found ourselves looking for something a little different to do—something fun, active, and out of the ordinary. That’s when a friend recommended IWF Rollerdrome, tucked away in the North Docks of Liverpool. I’d heard the name before, but this was our first visit—and wow, what an experience!
As soon as we stepped through the doors, the sound of upbeat music and the sight of neon lights bouncing off the polished floor had us buzzing with excitement. This wasn’t just another day out—it was a mini adventure.
👨👩👧👦 Skating for All Ages—Really!
What struck me first was how welcoming the atmosphere was. On the rink, toddlers clung to the wall with proud determination, teens whizzed past in glowing wheels, and even a couple in their sixties were having the time of their lives. The staff were friendly and helpful, always nearby with a steadying hand or an encouraging smile.
We joined in on a family-friendly Sunday skate disco, and it quickly became clear why people of all ages get hooked to roller skating.
🎈 Party Vibes Without the Stress
While we were there, a birthday party table in full swing—music pumping, kids laughing, cake being cut. I instantly made a mental note: this is where we’re hosting my daughter’s next birthday.
The staff took care of everything. Decorations and food—the whole package. I even asked about adult parties and was told they regularly host everything from school trips to corporate events, and even hen dos. Who knew?
🏃♀️ Fitness, but Make It Fun
I’ll admit, I wasn’t expecting to break a sweat, but after an hour of skating, I was glowing. No treadmill in the world could compete with this kind of fun. I later found out they offer beginner skate sessions on Thursdays—basically a workout in disguise. You skate, groove, and burn calories without even realising it. Count me in.
🌈 Don’t Miss the Themed Nights
As we were leaving, posters near the entrance caught my eye: ‘Retro Roll': 80s themed Thursdays. Each night has its own vibe—with live DJs, light shows and more. It's no wonder they’ve become a Liverpool nightlife staple. You don’t have to drink to have a good time here—just lace up and hit the floor.
📍 Getting There: IWF ROLLERDROME, 3 REGENT STREET, LIVERPOOL
L3 7DS
IWF Rollerdrome is in the north docks area, just a short walk from Moorfields Station. We found parking right outside, but I’d recommend arriving a bit early on weekends—it can fill up fast.
