The Story of IWF Rollerdrome
Around four and a half years ago, the world hit pause — and almost overnight, it became a place filled with fear, uncertainty, and isolation. During the pandemic, people found different ways to cope, to distract themselves, and to feel a little bit safer.
Many of us began reconnecting with old hobbies, discovering new passions, and trying things we never imagined. Among those looking for connection and joy was a group brought together by a shared love of skating — some childhood hobbies reignited, some seasoned pros, some disco lovers and others stepping onto wheels for the very first time.
They had a simple vision: Liverpool needed a dedicated space where people could skate regularly, safely, and freely under some pretty lights and with a solid sound system. A place where wellbeing and that night out feeling combine. Somewhere that could bring people together and grow a real community.
After months of hard work, planning, and plenty of elbow grease, IWF opened the doors to their Rollerdrome concept for the first time making national news!
Fast forward four years, and it’s become so much more than a rink. It’s a place where strangers have become lifelong friends. Community groups have formed, events have flourished, and for many, it’s been a source of joy, connection, and belonging. Confidence has grown, and the Liverpool skate scene is truly thriving.
Here’s to the skaters, the team, and everyone who’s ever rolled through our doors — thanks for making this community what it is.
We’d love for you to join us as we celebrate 4 amazing years of IWF Rollerdrome on Thursday 1st May! 🛼 Come roll with us and be part of the community that made it all possible.
